The Louisiana Softball Coaches Association was founded in May, 1990 by a group of dedicated high school softball coaches who wanted to devise ways to promote the sport, aid the coaches, and honor the athletes who play our sport.
The following goals were developed at the meeting:
• All-State Program for all classes
• Sponsor All Star Games
• Provide information to Coaches in a timely manner
• Plan and hold Coaches’ Clinic in the Summer
• Hall of Fame Program
• Coaches Directory.
The LSCA has accomplished each of these goals early in its formation.
Later the LSCA was also successful in getting the LHSAA to include softball in the All Academic Program to honor All-Academic Players in high school softball.
In subsequent years, the LSCA began the sponsorship of a Scholarship Program for graduating Softball players. These scholarships were to be used for college expenses. The LSCA later began a Distinguished Service Program to recognized individuals or groups that have greatly aided our organization.
In 2013, an Email Blast System was established to better inform coaches about current events, issues and notices in a timely manner. In 2022 the LSCA Web Site was upgraded. The upgrade enhanced the ability of all interested in our web site to access it better with mobile devices.
In addition, the LSCA works closely with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and the Louisiana High School Coaches Association to make recommendations on issues and rules along with in its dealings on such matters as equipment rulings and the state tournament as they relate to the game of Softball.
